Damon Helms, age 80, of Pencil Bluff, departed this life on February 4, 2017, at Montgomery County Nursing Home in Mount Ida, AR, surrounded by his family. He was born June 10, 1936, in Hon, AR to the late Ran and Fannie Newman Helms. Mr. Helms is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Earl Helms, JB Helms, Archie Helms and one sister Lorrene Caskey.

He is survived by wife, Willie Mae Helms of Pencil Bluff, son, Duwayne Helms of Pencil Bluff, grandchildren, Melissa Gray (Kevin) of Pencil Bluff, Great-grandchildren, Deshay Baker of Pencil Bluff, Aaron Baker of Pencil Bluff, Travis Gray (Haillie) of Story, Ty Gray of Pencil Bluff, Tegan Gray of Pencil Bluff, great-great-grandchildren, Belle and Emma of Story, brother, Holbert Helms, RB Helms, sisters, Grace Tucker, Bulamae Daily, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held Monday, February 6, 2017, 6-8 p.m. at Thornton Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, February 7, 2017, 12:00 p.m. at Center Point Cemetery in Hon, AR with Brother Andy Kennedy officiating. Pallbearers: JR Tucker, Pete Morris, Bill Chick, Tony Breashears, Heath McConnell, Freddy Joe McConnell, JC Helms and JR Newman.
